Disinfection of Potable Water Piping

Description

The objective of this one-day course has been developed to provide participants with training to disinfect potable water piping safety and effectively, in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and legislation. Opportunities for hands-on application have been included to maximize learning and retention.

What will be covered:

  • Regulation, policies, and procedures
  • Types of chlorine used for disinfection
  • How disinfection works
  • Break-point chlorination
  • Chlorine residual testing
  • Water main disinfection: table, continuous feed, slug and emergency swab or spray methods
  • Disposal of chlorinated waste
  • Practical component will include:
    • Disinfect potable water piping safely and effectively
    • Use of standard equipment
    • Model of disinfection process
