Disinfection of Potable Water Piping (WD-99-HO):
The objective of this one-day course has been developed to provide participants with training to disinfect potable water piping safety and effectively, in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and legislation. Opportunities for hands-on application have been included to maximize learning and retention.
What will be covered:
- Regulation, policies, and procedures
- Types of chlorine used for disinfection
- How disinfection works
- Break-point chlorination
- Chlorine residual testing
- Water main disinfection: table, continuous feed, slug and emergency swab or spray methods
- Disposal of chlorinated waste
- Practical component will include:
- Disinfect potable water piping safely and effectively
- Use of standard equipment
- Model of disinfection process
