Multi-Barrier Approach to Drinking Water
Description
Multi-Barrier Approach to Drinking Water (WT-90-CT):
The key to ensuring clean, safe drinking water is to understand the drinking water supply from the source to the consumer’s tap. This includes understanding the characteristics of the water and the land surrounding the water source, as well as knowing real and potential threats to the water quality. The multi-barrier approach takes these threats into account and ensures there are “barriers” in place to eliminate or minimize their impact. This course will look at source water and source water protection, effective treatment as a defence and water quality in the distribution system.
What will be covered:
- Source water protection
- Range of water treatment systems
- Potential barriers and their limitations
- Management and operation of the system
- Protection in the distribution system
