Ozone Technology for Water Treatment

Description

This one-day course was developed for the benefit of all staff that may work in a facility where ozone technology is applied. It is also valuable for those who wish to become familiar with this disinfection technology, the use of which is rapidly increasing in water treatment in Ontario. The course will cover all aspects of ozonation, starting with the reason ozone works well in many applications, the different ways the chemical can be produced or purchased and what ozone does to disinfect water. It will look at the practical aspects of how operators dose and measure the residual ozone concentrations. It will look at the pros and cons of ozonation, including how it is used to encourage Biologically Active Filtration (BAF), the disinfection by-product that are produced by other disinfectants compared to those produced by ozone, and finally the safe use of ozone.

These topics will be covered:

  • Why ozone
